Phototherapy
These are lights and/or a blanket that emits a blue light. These lights help break down the bilirubin in your baby’s skin. Your baby will need eye protection during this therapy as the lights are very bright and may damage immature eyes. It is also important for as much of the babies skin to be exposed as possible. Therefore, keeping them under the lights with maximum exposure and no more than 30 minutes out from the lights for feedings with increase the effectiveness of the therapy.
