UVC - Umbilical Venous Catheter

This is a central line that is placed under sterile conditions. The benefits are quick access, not having to “poke” the baby for IV’s, and ability to administer vesicant medications without problems. It is placed in the vein that runs to your baby’s heart from the umbilical cord.
